COUNCIL APPROVES TAX RATE AND PENALTY DEFERRAL

On April 28th, Delburne Council approved the 2020 Tax Rate Bylaw and at the May 12th Council meeting an amendment to the Tax Penalty Bylaw was passed.
The General Municipal Levy for both residential and non-residential properties did not increase this year. In fact the municipal tax rate has not increased since 2016.
The rates are as follows:
Residential: 7.2514
Non-residential: 18.8441
Special levies and requisitions are as follows:
Alberta School Foundation Fund (Residential): 2.5817
Alberta School Foundation Fund (Non-residential): 3.5915
Seniors Housing Levy: 0.01857
Designated Industrial Assessment: 0.07612
The 2020 Combined Property Tax Assessments & Notices will be mailed out before the end of May. Property owners have 67 days to appeal their assessment from the date that assessments are mailed out.
The deadline to pay property taxes is June 30th. No penalty charges will be applied on unpaid taxes on July 1st. Due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, an amendment was made to the Tax Penalty Bylaw No. 1136/2018 to defer penalties until October 1, 2020. All terms of Bylaw No. 1136/2018 will come back into effect on January 1, 2021.
