Message from the Mayor
Message from the Mayor of the Village of Delburne
It is my pleasure to extend warm greetings to you. Welcome to Delburne! We are proud of our community and trust that you will enjoy your stay with us. Delburne has much to offer!
Whether you live, work, play or are visiting, you will quickly notice that our community provides a quality of life that is warm, friendly and caring. Our residences are well - kept and attractive, our business community is viable and ready to serve you, and our amenities are varied and modern.
Several of our light industrial businesses are highly technical and their products are in high demand internationally. We also offer an incubator facility which allows beginning business to start up with low overhead costs.
Those seeking business opportunities will find a pleasant and most knowledgeable staff at the Village Office who are willing to assist and provide needed information. Our Economic Development Committee and Delburne Chamber of Commerce are very willing and capable of giving assistance where needed. As well, Delburne is a member of Central Alberta Economic Partnership (CAEP) – a regional group of over forty municipalities who are committed to enhancing economic growth in their communities.
Municipal taxes are very competitive; Delburne offers some tax incentives and has no machinery and equipment tax.
We are a partner in the Boomtown Trail Community Initiatives Society that promotes many tourist attractions and events between Strathcona County and Bassano along Highway 2 1, 56 an d the Trans - Canada Highway. On e popular attraction that draws people to our community is Fawn Meadows Golf and Country Club – a very scenic and challenging nine - hole course. Another popular gathering place is our Delburne Spray Park, just recently opened. Also, our Main Street Park playground has undergone a major replacement – it is new, colorful and attractive. Come join us! You and your family will really enjoy yourselves!
As we enter 2012, there are exciting developments and events being planned. For example, the second phase of the Fawn Meadows residential subdivision development is complete and many lots have been sold. Also, Delburne recently annexed three quarters of land south of the previous Village boundary. Two of the parcels are zoned Residential and one quarter section is zoned Industrial and Highway Commercial. This greatly expands our land area for future growth for residential, commercial and industrial development.
The year 2013 is Delburne’ s Centennial. Plans are already underway to host a year - long series of events with the highlight being our Flag Day (July 1) Celebrations. Plan to join us!
In closing, a warm welcome. Consider Delburne for Living, for Visiting, for an Enjoyable Experience.
Ray Reckseidler – Mayor of Delburne
